HP, the world’s top printer maker has unveiled a USD 300 million marketing push to increase the sales of its printers and peripherals.
It has also launched a new range of printers. The new marketing campaign, as part of the "Print 2.0" strategy is aimed at taking a larger slice of the printer market.
The new marketing push has a two pronged strategy: HP wants its products to share the ease-of-use intrinsic to Web 2.0 applications, and it wants to capture the lion's share of the printing demand sparked by Web applications.
HP believes that 48 per cent of print jobs come from Web pages today as opposed to five years ago when wordfiles were dominating. By 2010, HP expects the printing market to grow to 53 trillion pages annually.
"That's the opportunity we need to think about together as a partner: how can we capture more pages?" Vyomesh Joshi, topper of HP’s printer division said in a presentation at a event. |
