PT Indosat is all prepared to not only welcome the New Year but also the highest spike in SMS network capacity.
The second largest mobile operator in Indonesia is expecting an increase of network capacity up to 250 million text messages per day, twice as many than on a regular day.
Adita Irawati, Division Head Public Relation PT Indosat said that SMS traffic will increase by20 percent until the New Year. On a regular day, Indosat’s SMS traffic is around 140 million SMS’s per day.
Adita also predicts that people will send text messages one day before the New Year. She hopes that Indosat's subscriber will send their text messages at least two or three days before the New Year to anticipate the traffic.
Beside text messaging, Indosat said that their subscribers have the option of using voice calls as an alternative form of conveying their well wishes.
Voice services can be enjoyed at 50 Rupiah for every 30 second using a Mentari prepaid card, Adita said. But she agrees that using SMS is faster than making calls during peak times.
Indosat is the second largest mobile operator with 16.704.639 subscriber base by the end 2006 and 22 million subscriber in Q3 2007. Indosat launched its 3.5G for the Jakarta and Surabaya regions in November 29, 2006. |
